1. Choose a mold: Your mold needs to be something smooth and easy for you to pull the candle out after it has dried. You can oil the inside of the mold with vegetable oil for easy removal.
2. Set a double boiler: Get a medium sized can or pot and place it in a second larger pot. Fill the larger pot with a couple inches of water and heat on high, and begin candles.
3. Melting wax candles: You can either use paraffin or leftover wax from old candles ( If your using old candles make sure you remove any old burnt wick). Break the wax into chunks and place it in your double boiler, make sure you are constantly string it until the candle wax melted. If you would like to add color to your candle, you can get small pieces of crayons and mix them into your melting wax candles. You can also decide if you would like to scent your candle with either fragrance oil or perfume. Your candle is on its way!
4. Making your wicks: Cut a piece of string that is double the length of you candle mold. Dip the string in your melted wax and let it hang from something and dry out so that when your mold is ready you will have nice straight wicks.
5. Pouring your wax candles: Get your mold ready; and being very careful while using oven mitts, poor your melting wax candles into the mold. Place your wick in the center of the mold using a pencil to suspend it and keep it centered. Let your candle cool down and dry for about a day, you may think its ready earlier but the center can still be very soft. After your candle is cooled down completely, carefully remove the candle and then the best step. Enjoy your new homemade designed candles!
